Just asking if you liked the RCI-5054DX? I'm getting ready to get the 100 watt version. I used to have a Kenwood TS-570 S with 6m and then I got stupid and traded it and I've kicked my butt ever since. So recently I thought about building a 6m transverter for my Icom 751 A and now changed my mind to the RCI. So I have my Alinco 6m up on ebay with 1 bid on it. Hope you get back.

Interesting article. Thanks for sharing. I've been to Dayton 3 times and hope to go again in 2012 (not financially able to this year (2011)). If you got sick after, it's because your adrenalin was on high during the trip. Each time after my Dayton trips, myself and the guys I rode with got a cold and were fatigued for a few days to a week after the trip. But it's worth it!

If you go this year, I look forward to reading your comments.

73,

Steve,

Excellent points. I too enjoyed the 'Mad Scientist' article in QST. Being willing to get dirty and let the smoke out of things can lead to a lot of learning, though letting the smoke out too often can get expensive! ;)

I appreciate your perspective regarding problem solving. I'm frequently surprised by how many people I meet along the way who are willfully ignorant with regard to how things work.

73,

Just came upon your website while searching for info about the FT-450. Howdy sorta neighbor. I live in a small town called Fairborn right next to W.P.A.F.B.

I've been using a FT-100d for my base unit. But am planning to put it in my car with the ATAS 100 antenna. The FT-450 is on sale right now so I'm planning to pick one up from R&L before Christmas.

I also have RC airplanes. Haven't flown them for awhile tho. My car was too small to get them in. Now I've just picked up a station wagon, I'm planning on flying next summer.
